4 letters - 500,000 visitors

First and foremost (for the 4 letter freaks out there) the value of this site has nothing to do with the domain. Nothing, nada, zilch. The value of the website and the traffic attached to the domain is a direct result of the owners work developing the content.
In simple words the domain xkcd.com was worthless [...]

Round 1: Subprimes. What’s Round 2? Oh, This Will Get Nasty

I don#8217;t particularly like the show 60 Minutes, but when it#8217;s airing I will often turn it on in the background.  It#8217;s a decent resource for trend domaining with it#8217;s focus on current events and all.  This past Sundays episode made me turn my head though.
You see, a trend I predicted back in April and [...]img src=”http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TrendDomaining/~4/487153182″ height=”1″ width=”1″/

Free Unique Content: Family-Friendly Resorts

Every now and again I come across some interesting info that would add value to a website.  Often these would be nice on a geo site or a travel site.
Recently, Forbes released a list of their top family-friendly resorts.  I know this not ground breaking news and most of you won#8217;t even care.  But if [...]img src=”http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TrendDomaining/~4/487120635″ height=”1″ width=”1″/

Which Domainer should win?

This post is not about domain names per say but it will shed some light on the minds of people who spend $70,000 on (trademark).me domains or hope to sell hamburgerwithnochesse-please.info for $100,000. As far as the domain community goes I think we are a pretty smart bunch of people. The simple fact that we [...]

Internet Explorer Unsafe for Use

I don’t use Internet Explorer myself and I sure hope everyone reading this doesn’t either. If you are, I have one good reasons you should consider using something else for at least the next few days… A serious security flaw has been found in Internet Explorer and the exploit is being used to steal passwords [...]

After some questionable sales reporting last week, Sedo has implemented an updated reporting tool for completed domain sales in their marketplace. All domains with an asterisk “*” were [...]

Indian Domain Sales Report

It has been a lot quieter this week after the two previous weeks chalked up a record number of Indian domain sales.
There were a couple of nice LLL.in that sold -Apm.in sold for $126 and Iis.in went for $218 - a real bargain given that it starts with a “ii”.
There were a few other sales. [...]

Microsoft At Ends With New Internet Explorer Security Issues

“Change Browsers” is all that seems to be released regarding the newest Microsoft Internet Explorer security vulnerability. They can’t exactly “fix” the problem, so they are suggesting you do the next best thing: just stop using Internet Explorer altogether. A bit dramatic, ay?
Users have been encouraged to use the Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari browsers by [...]

Disposing of Confidential Information

With how fast technology changes, we’re all upgrading every few years to a better desktop, better laptop, better cell phone, etc. What happens to the information on these devices? Even if you do delete everything, it’s not necessarily completely gone, as I’m going to explain today on Domain Name Scams.
Last week, a Blackberry was purchased [...]

Want Viral Traffic? Throw A Shoe At The President

President Bush has had to overcome quite a bit over the years - dodging questions about the economy, weapons of mass destruction etc but he never had to dodge a flying shoe - up until yesterday that is. An Iraqi journalist launched a pair of his size 10 shoes at George W in protest - and George W ducked quite aptly to avoid the missiles.

IDN Response and summary to the Cairo public forum

img src=”http://blog.icann.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/cairo-public-forum.jpg” alt=”" title=”Cairo public forum” width=”500″ height=”175″ class=”alignnone size-full wp-image-546″ /emThis is a Response and Summary to the Cairo public forum that took place on 6 November 2008./em

pA PDF version of this document is available at: a href=”/en/participate/cairo-public-forum-response.pdf”http://www.icann.org/en/participate/cairo-public-forum-response.pdf/a/p

puNote from the Chairman:/u/p
pOne of the most significant features of ICANN meetings is the Public Forum, where members of the ICANN community are able to present their views on issues of concern to them to the ICANN Board, in public session. The fact that we rotate meetings through each of the geographic sectors of the world enhances the opportunity that people from every region to present their views to the ICANN Board, in the presence of Staff and the whole ICANN community. /p
pAs a long-time participant from the floor presenting views, in my case from the ccTLD community, I am well aware of the time, effort and expense that goes into the preparation of such statements. As a board member, I have valued hearing those submissions, from individuals, governments and constituencies. I am determined as Chair to continue this tradition, and to maximise the opportunities for information sharing it represents./pdiv class=”feedflare”
